CHOOSING A COLLEAGUE

President Hoover has selected Mr. William Doak, of Virginia, legislative agent of the Brotherhood of Railway Train Men, to fill the post of Secretary of Labour, in view of the coming resignation of Senator-elect J. J. Davis. President Hoover has issued a stinging rebuke to Mr. Green, president of the American Federation of "Labour, who requested the selection of a member of that body. The President stated that the ultimatum impelled him to maintain the principle of equal opportunity and select Mr. Doak, who was not a member of the Federation of Labour.
