BRILLIANT FIELDING

One department of cricket which has come in for a good deal of adverse criticism in. New Zealand is fielding, and it has been announced that in the selection of the New Zealand team for England special consideration is to be given to players who are efficient in the, field. An example of how good fielding adds interest to the game and also keeps the scoring down to a minimum was afforded by the University senior team in its match with Hutt at the Hutt Becrcation Ground on Saturday afternoon. Much of the work in the field was brilliant, and the general performance of the University players was regarded as being the best seen on the Hutt Eecration Ground for a long time. E. M'Leod, the captain, set a fine example to his men, among whom Mac Allan, Bailey, and Paetz were also particularly noticeable for excellent work.
