MOTOR FATALITY
iTWO DEAD, OTHERS INJURED

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) TE AWAMUTU, This Day. A motoring fatality on Saturday 'evening resulted- in the instantaneous death of the driver, and the subsequent death of another in hospital, and severe injuries to two other persons. A car was travelling towards Arapuni, >vhen about a mile beyond Kihikihi the driver swerved to pass a vehicle standing on the roadside. Apparently he lost (Control, going very wide, and then turning sharply back to the road again. The ran up the side of a slight cmJ>ankment and overturned, finally teoming to a standstill some distance along the road and facing in the opposite way on to its original direction. ■ The driver and six other occupants, all Maoris, were thrown* out. The driver, Tommy Williams, aged 30, was killed instantly. Kenny "Williams, aged 6, suffered serious injuries. Henry Warren, aged 46, died this morning in hospital. Huia Edwards, aged 38, is suffering from severe concussion. The other three passengers were injured, but after treatment by a doctor were removed to their homes. The car was considerably damaged. At the inquest, which was opened yesterday, a Maori witness stated that he had spent the afternoon with the deceased driver. They had been in hotels, but ho considered that the driver was sober. One of the occupants of the car said that they had drinks at Kihikihi Hotel a few minutes before the accident. He thought the pace was fast, and just before the accident he heard one of the passengers in the back seat complain about the speed. He personally was frightened at the speed of the car. The inquest was adjourned.
