FINAL OF TROTTING CUP

A MOST DECISIVE VICTORY

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, 13th November. Wraekler won the New Zealand Trotting Cup final at Addington to-day as decisively as he won his heat on Tuesday. Well placed ou the rails from a good beginning, he came right away in the straight and won with so much in hand that it is hard to estimate the measure of his superiority. Wraekler looked none the worse for his first day's effort; in fact, he seemed to put more dash into the final. He was bred and is owned by Mr. H. V. Nicoll, being by Wrack, a stallion Mr. Nicoll imported from America, from Trix Pointer, who won the Cup in 1919. Although not built on very stout lines, Wraekler possesses wonderful stamina, and a two-mile journey does not trouble him at all. He was a good stake-earner last season, winning six races worth £2185. Mr. Nicoll won the Cup away back in 1908 with Durbar, and this was his second success. It must be very gratifying to the Ashburton sportsman to be the breeder and owner of such a brilliant pacer. Wraekler finished third in the New Zealand Sapling Stakes as a two-year-old, and won the Great Northern and New Zealand Derbies as a three-year-old, and, as he is now only five years old, he should score further victories. It was a good day for Mr. Nicoll, for he won the Derby just prior with Arethusa, a sister to the Cup winner. Author Jinks went a similar race in the final as he did in liis division. Making a bad beginning, he lost a lot of ground, and his performance in the circumstances was a very fine one. J. Young, jiuir., his driver, showed fine judgment in handling the little pacer. He allowed him to settle to his.speed, and then drove him along to mako up his ground. Author Jinks, who looks none too. sound, paced a very, fast last half-mile for second money. Had he gone off right, he would, on this performance, have been a serious menace to the winner. Jewel 'Pointer, the third horse, was we'll placed all through, but though he finished on well, it was apparent a furlong from the post that third place was the best he could hope to attain. Kohara paced a good race in the final until three furlongs from home, at which stage he was well beaten, but he managed to hold fourth money from Terence Dillon, .■.-..' Logan Park failed to move off.
