FOUND SHOT
INQUEST ADJOURNED
An inquest on Eric George Crana, aged 32, was opened by the Coroner; (Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M.) this morning, and was adjourned after some evidence had been taken for further evidence to be heard. Crane; who was a married man with! two children, was found in his motor-* car on the road near Porirua with a bullet wound in his- forehead on tho morning of 22nd October. He wa» brought into the Hospital, Ijiut never, completely regained :■ consciousness arid he died on 27th October from injuries to his brain and. pneumonia. Evidence was given that the accused had secured a permit to buy a .22 calibre rifle in tha nam'o of a man named% Mitchell, but subsequent inquiries had shown' that Mitchell knew nothing about the application and was not in Wellington at the time. The rifle which Crane had purchased was, found alongside him in. tho car, and a box of .22 cartridges was found in his pocket. Tho inquest was adjourned until Monday next. V ,-.
