LABOUR AND THE BOARD

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. Commenting on the criticism of the Minister of Labour (the Hon. S. G. Smith) of the letter sent to him by the secretary of the Otago Labour Council, protesting against the method employed in selecting representatives for tho Unemployment Board, Mr. W. G. Baird, president of the Otago Labour Council, said that the letter had tho full approval of the. council. Tho working of the Act was debarred a fair trial, since the Government had wantonly loaded it with such a serious disability before it became operative.. Labour was not prepared to waste time when tho workers were not to have representatives of their own selection.
