AFRIDIS SEEK PEACE
TRIBESMEN STILL ACTIVE
ATTACK TEANSPOET
Dnlted Preis Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received 10th November, 10 a.m.) DELHI, 9th November. The Afridis are seeking peace, having come at last to realise the damage five squadrons of Royal Air Force aeroplanes do, and fearing that with the approach of winter and the Government's blockade of their food the problem may become acute, they have approached the British Government and asked for a conference' to settle matters unsettled at the recent abortive conference. \ The British are now in a position to lay down terms which will ensure the permanent safety of Peshawar. Wild tribesmen yesterday swooped down on a North-West frontier police lorry at Loralai, killed the driver and a. head constable, and captured/a rifle and 500 rounds of ammunition. Hidden behind boulders, the tribesmen punctured the tires of tho lorry with rifle shots. Their fire was hotly returned by the police escort, several of whom were wounded in a hand-to-hand fight. Troops were rushed to the scene, but the raiders escaped. Simultaneously a clash occurred between a party of raiders and frontier levies near Kalat. Ten raiders were killed.
