MEETINGS OF BRANCHES

Mrs, Bringans was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks for her hospitalIsland Bay: The annual meeting of the Island Bay Branch was held at the residence of the president, Mrs. Vickcry, who presided over a good attendance. Mrs. A. A. Brown presented the annual report and balance-sheet, which were highly satisfactory. Though there were fever collectors, the others had worked with such enthusiasm that the cause had not suffered. Mrs. Vickery was re-elected president, Mrs. Brown secretary, Miss M'Gowan, Mesdames Ireland and Ashworth vice-presidents, and the following as collectors, Mesdames M'Hutcheon, Scryinegour, Hindmarsh, Marshall, Andrew, Vickery, Brown, and Miss M'Gowan. The president moved a very hearty vote of appreciation of the splendid work of the secretary, which was carried by acclamation. Mrs. Siudall and Mrs. Ashworth were welcomed as now members aud both expressed their desire to collect next year. Mrs. Porter congratulated all upon their very successful year and upon the spirit in which they carried out their work despite obstacles which arose at times. She also stressed' tho growth of the work in many lands and in New Zealand. Mrs. Vickery entertained all to afternoon tea, which was much appreciated, a tribute being paid her for her constant and sympathetic work as president and collector. Mrs. Porter was presented with ,-i beautiful bouquet of spring flowers. The singing of the Doxology brought an enjoyable afternoon to a close. Lyall Bay: Mrs. Orange presided at the annual meeting of the Lyall Bay Branch, which was held at tho Manse, Lyall Bay. The resignation of the secretary, Mrs. Russell, was accepted with deep regret, Mrs. Orange expressing much appreciation of the work'accomplished during Mrs. Russell's term of office. The president also thanked all the collectors very warmly for their help and support throughout the year. Mrs. Porter stated that Mrs. Orange had been good enough to add to her office of president that of secretary tor the present year, and that the branch as well as the Bible Society owed her a debt of gratitude. The following officers were elected for tho eusmng year: President, Mrs. Orange (re-elect-ed); collectors, Meqdamcs Seelye, M. Anderson, Cull, O'Connor, Keitkmuller, Sbaw, Miss E. Stitt, and Sister Maud. Mrs. Porter, in speaking of the world work of last year, said the society was now selling more than double the number of copies in the English language than it sold ten years ago. Last year 66,000 copies of Welsh versions were issued, and over 1,500,000 copies of English, with the addition of embossed copies for tho blind, and a' few in Gaelic aud Irish—an increase of about 130,000. Mrs. Orango entertained all to afternoon tea, during which several related their experiences in collecting. Epuni Hamlet: The annual meeting of tho Epuni Hamlet Branch was held in the Church of England Schoolroom. Eo-jn-et was expressed at the resignation of Mrs. Eussell. Mrs. Mawsou was elected secretary and treasurer, and appreciation of her work as treasurer for last year was expressed. Mrs. Porter spoke upon tho aims and objocts of the society and of its wonderful expansion during the last-25 years. The following were elected collectors: Mrs. Symes, Mrs. Mawson, Misseß Lerwell and ! Porter.
