HOUSE DAMAGED
STRUCK BY LIGHTNING
(By Telegraph—'Jresgu Association.) " BLENHEIM; Thi? i>a-y. The home of, Mr. C. E. Sfetthews, at Eapaura, was struck by lightrling during an electrical storm on- Saturday afternoon. One wall was partly ed, weatherboards; being hurled to a considerable distance',,while tho,liningboards ofi the,- same wall wei-e_ thrown across tho room, narrowly.missing two little girls and a,maid who were an the kitchen. In several other ..portions of the house floor boards were broken and exterior walls were penetrated. Nine windows were shattered-as if by an explosion in'the interior. - The whole building was wrapped in blue flame for a tiino,- and later;: became, enveloped in thick smoke,, but, no; fire.; resulted. Outside, two Sections of: fencing were completely burnt away,;a telephone pole -was- shattered, and a fencing: post was Mr Matthews, who was attending, to his fowls, was knocked,over, but suffered no injury. One of the fowls was "knocked out," but revived. Sev eral residents in the' vicinity report that "their telophono fuses were ttoown about, hut' no Casualties occurred. -.
