OBITUARY
MR. R. M. VIRTUE
The death occurred on Thursday at his residence, 84, Oriental parade, of Mr. Eobert M'ltityre. Virtue, son of the late Mr. D. W. Virtue, of the firm of D. W. Virtue and Co., flour merchants. i Mr. Virtue was born at Hokitika in 1565, and was associated with his father in establishing the firm on the' West Coast. Forty years ago it was decided to transfer to Wellington, and on the death of his father about 30 years ago, Mr. Virtue assumed control, which he maintained until his death. In 1902 he married Miss Jean Robertson (daughter of the late Mr. David Robertson, the well-known ironfounder), who predeceased him in 1923. He is survived by three sons, Messrs. D. W. Virtue, a member of the legal firm, of "?'oung, White, and Courtney, and Messrs. J. R. and R. K. Virtue, who were both associated with their father in the business. In his younger days Mr. Virtue was a keen cricketer. He was a member ' of the old Star and Phoenix Clubs, and ; represented the province, being a very 1 good bowler. Latterly he had led a | quiet, retired life, giving a good deal of time to the study of social and theological subjects, though right up to ' the last summer he manifested a keen [ interest in cricket. The funeral took ' place to-day.
