ATTITUDE OF BANKS
NOT SUFFICENT FUNDS REPAYMENT OF LOANS (Received Bth November, 10 a.m.) MELBOUENE, This Day. The chairman of the Association of Banks, Mr. Tranter, said -that the Commonwealth Bank did not possess sufficient funds to meet in the ordinary way cash payments to the holders of stock in loans which mature in December. He could not see the smallest chance of the board being persuaded to accept the conversion plan favoured by the Federal Labour Caucus. That would damage public confidence in the banks and the Government. :
