WRECKED SEAPLANE

An.inquiry into the crash of--.tho.New Zealand Air Forco Seaplane, Fairey 111., which plunged into the Auckliind; Harbour oh 29th October when engaged on an air speed test, was held at the Hobsonville Air Base to-day. The. Court .consisted' of .Lieatenant'Colonel J. E. Duigan, of the North era Military .Command, chairman, Major B< Miles/ and Flight-Lieutenant 11. • 'B. Burrell, .flying instructor at Wigrani Aerodrome. After evidence had been takeD, Flight-Lieutenant Burrell left, on his return to Christehurch. The finding, of the Court is being forwarded to the Officer Commanding the New Zealand Forces, Major-Goneral Young, who is expected to make known the vadrdiefc next week. • ■" The accident occurred about a, mile f roii. .this stir., base, the' seaplane .diving, under -tho water while 'flying about -30' feet above the surface. The occupants, Flight-Lieutenant S. Wallihgford, who was , piloting tho machine, Corporal Smith, and A. G. Andrews, aircraftsman apprentice, had a miraculous escape from, death by drowning.
