WELLINGTON CLUB

The! annual meeting-of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club was held last, evening. .Mi1. A. C. Kitto presided over a good attendance of , members. In moving the adoption of the annual report, Mr. Kitto said that although ho was not altogether. satisfied with the year's work, the past season, considering count er-attritctions, was fairly successful. 31 r. Kitto l-efeired to.tho club's successes during the year, particularly the winning of the M'Villy Shield. The club had taken a prominent part-in the New Zealand championships. Several cycling members had taken part in the break-away movement, and were therefore suspended by the New Zealand Amateur Athletic1 Association. They could not take part in the club's activities, but the club would continue to help cycling. The club had obtained the use of a room at Athletic Park, and was under a debt of gratitude to the Rugby Union for help in this matter. In commenting on future , activities of the club, Mr. Kitto said that the coming season should be the most successful on record. In addition to the use of Athletic Park, they hoped to obtain the use of Kilbirnie Park for cyclists. The sports meetings to be held by various clubs between the hours of G and 7 o'clock should do much for the sport. It was proposed to pay a visit to Wanganui on Ctli December. A "korcro" would be held at'-Ath-letic Park on 11th October. Most of the meetings would be held at Athletic Park and at the Petonc Recreation Ground. The provincial meetings and the meetings at which the American athletes would compete would be held at Athletic Park.

The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £11 10s Od.

A letter was received from Mr. F. de Malmanche, now residing at Auckland, in which the writer expressed best wishes for the coming season. Mr. de Malmanche has donated a special trophy to be used for any competition the club desires.

Tooroer; hon. secretary, Mr. W. H. Fisher; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. T. Fleming; ! delegates to centre?, Messrs. L. M'Kay and J. T. Fleming; hon. auditor. Mr. H. Pa ton; hon. starter, Mr. T. W. Leslie; executive committee, Messrs. C. Jenkins, C. Clark, ,R. A Lulham, T. Cole, C. Parsonage,. M. Gane, R. Lander,' S. Gudsell, G. S. Leeder, L. Labone, J. Emeny, A. Welply; advisory cycling committee, Messrs. 'G. Telfar, M. Gane, T. Oates, C. Clark, L. Laboue, D. Toomer. The centre's _ handicappers were appointed to serve in that capacity for the. club. Appreciative reference was made to the work of the retiring secretary, Mr. W. F Ingram, who was forced to relinquish, his duties through stress of business. It was decided to make it a recommendation to the Wellington Centre that the club favours tho holding of weeknight meetings between the hours- ot 0 and 7 o'clock.
