United Tress Association —By Electric 'i'oltgraph—Copyright. (Received 21-th September, 1 p-m.) . MADRID, 28th September. Revolutionary speeches and a unanimous resolution expressing a determination to overthrow tho present regime, a demand that King Alfonso abdicate in order that a tragedy aright be averted and a Republic be established, wer« tho keynotes of the first open expression of Republicanism tho Government has permitted since the coup d'etat of 1923. Twenty thousand packed tha Madrid bull ring and displayed great anger when a •'military aeroplane flew over. The Government's nervousness was exhibited by an enormous display; of forco posted at strategic points on. avenues leading to tho bull ring, also inside the- ring itself. The speakers' language generally was moderate, but Scrior Leiroux declare! that Spaniards'must recover their' sovereignty either'by the means which Germany used when she expelled th» Kaiser or following.Russia's example. ' Senor Domingo declared that Spain, had suffered for a century from tJio abuses of personal power. Innumerable persons were fltill imprisoned owing to their opinions. . Senor Lamora, Liberal llinistor, drew attention to Britain's example to the world in political affairs;, also the education of her people in honost-deal-ing- through sport, respect for the law, and clean politics, compared with Spanish official corruption. Ho urged Republicans to abstain from rioting and concentrate on increasing the strength of Republicanism. The meeting aroused great excitement. It is now being asked how tho Gqv« eminent will treat the speakers, for although the censorship is liftod, attack on the monarch is prohibited, and recently there were several prosecution* for this offence.
