LOST IN THE BUSH
TAUPO SETTLER'S WIFE
SEARCH PARTIES OUT
(By Telegraph.—Press A»sociation.)
NAPIER, 26th August,
Fears are entertained for the safety of Mrs. Heming, wife of a roadman, living twelve miles on the Taupo side of Tarawcra, who has been missing since Saturday evening. '"
Mr. and Mrs. Heming were out together on Saturday afternoon in a clearing not far from their house. Mr. Homing left his wifo to go in search of pigs. He wounded a large boar, and called up his dogs to track it, as it penetrated deeper into the bush. He thought his wife would proceed home. On returning to camp later he found that his wife was not there. Darkness had set in, and Mr. Heming returned to the bush and searched unsuccessfully until late at night. The police have since been engaged in an extensive search with the assistance of residents of tho district, but no trace of Mrs. Heming has been found. The denseness of the bush and the ruggedness 'of the country, together with bad weather since Saturday, make search difficult, and tho plight of the unfortunate woman must b^&s^ious.
