FAIR WEATHER

BUT RAIN LIKELY LATER

Pressure over New Zealand is still high as a whole, but is relatively low in the North. A cyclone appears to be approaching from over the . northern part of the Tasman Sea. North of Auckland north-easterly winds have freshened, but elsewhere winds have been light and variable, with an easterly tendency. Most parts of the Dominion have had a continuation of fair weather, but showers have fallen in the North and on the East Coast of the Noith Island, as well as at isolated places on the West Coast of the southern part of the South Island. Falls have been mostly light in character, but Tikitiki in the Gisborne area had as much as 216 points. East Cape has recorded 42 points and Gisborne 32 points of rain during the last 24 hours. Yesterday's weather was fair to fine in all the principal centres, Christchurch having a keen north-east wind, and Dunedin experiencing light rain at night. To-day's forecast is for a continuance at first of fair weather, but an

increase in cloud and mist may be expected before long. Some rain is liko-

]y in northern and East Coast districts of the North Island, and will gradually become more general. temperatures will bo milder. . "
