LOWER HUTT COURT
The • fortnightly sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court .was held yesterday before Messrs. W. D. Grocott and T. Waugh,. J.P.'s.
Exceeding. the speed limit in motor vehicles cost Billie Blake and T. W, Williams each £2. For exceeding the limit over the Hutt bridge, F. E. Reeves and S. B. Clarke were each fined £2; and Eva Dwan 'was ordered' to pay costs. S. Day and D. Kasangi were each fined 5s for driving motor vehicles on the wrong side of the road. For a similar offence H. W. Cox was ordered to pay costs. •
For riding a bicycle on the bitumen road J. Bell ss, and for riding at night without lights R. Ashley, G. Lawton, F. Newlyn, F. R. Stempa, B. J. Leiz, J. Leggott, William Henshaw, W. Mitchell; and E. Collins were each fined sa.
For not being able to produce their motor drivers' licences on demand, E. Everson, Charles King, and Mrs. Barrett were each fined £1. H. Stringer, L. Johnston, P. R. Grant, J. Marshall, K. W: Liddle, G. Scanlan, and F. Grotian each £2, and A. Thompson, R. Whiteman, and D. M'Coll were ordered to pay costs.
Judgment for plaintiffs by default was given in the following undefended civil cases:—Lower Hutt Borough Council v. L. Maugham, £ 3 8s 6d; E. A. Jessup v. Edward Ireson, £3 11s 2d; W. J. Hutchison V.
