AUSTRALIAN DIVIDENDS
, REDUCED AND PASSED
Where possible, piling' up reserves rather jKjan maintenance of dividends appears to be the rule with many Australian companies. In some ' cases, however, from policy or necessity, dividends have been passed, altogether.. The latest mail adyices show reductions as follow: —Queens3and National Bank reduced from 10 percent, to 8 per cent.; Berlei, Ltd., ordinary, from 10 per cent, to TVs per cent.; Dennys 'jjaecelles, Ltd., from 7 J/a per cent, to 5 per cent.; Sargent's, restaurateurs, pay 10 per, cent., as against 15 per cent, last year. Net profits were £26,766, a fall of [ii 13,240 on the year. The dividend was made up' to 10. per cent, by drawing oil reserves.. W. Nevill and Co., manufacturing stationers, pay a dividend of 8 per cent., compared witli 10 per cent, last year. Hoyt's Theatres receipts were |£152,233, against £166,909 last year. Net profits, £80,800, compared with £99,446 last year. Included in companies passing dividends is Farmers' and Graziers., Sydtnejy, which paid S per cent, last year.
