THE EARTHQUAKE IN WESTPORT
"I -will certainly tell you-about the earthquake. I was in school reading when it camo,' and Daddy:ran to the school. As he was running he saw. the Post Office tower falling.' There was only one little girl hurt in the whole school, and ,sho had her leg broken; When she was in the hospital she got presents from all over the place. When I got home all the chimneys were down and the water from the tank flooded the house. It was full of dirt and soot. The ground kept shaking all the time and it made Mummy seasick. Very often when the 'quakes were very bad, Mummy and Daddy and I wonld go for a walk. We didn't feel them so much when we were walking. One night when they were bad we all slept in a lorry." ■ * "SNOW FAIRY." Lower Hutt.
