APPROACHING YANGTSE
FOREIGNERS EVACUATED

Fololwiftg the evacuation, ' looting, and burning of Changsha on Monday, the Communist armies repeated their actions at Nanehang, Nankang, and are now advancing on Kiukiang, necessitating the evacuation of all foreigners from Kuling, the summer mountai* resort on the express orders of tha British authorities. Two British destroyers have been ordered to Kiukiang. ' . • . . The State Department at "Washington has informed the Nanking Government that in the event of America*, lives and property being lost, America reserves all rights in the matter. During an engagement between the American river gunboat Palos and Communists in the vicinity of Changsha, five American sailors were wounded. There are no details. It appears that the Communists opened fir* on the Palos, which replied, killing thirty.
