THEFT OF BOOTS
"I whs very drunk at the time," said John Burke, alias Harry Porter, alias Pat Burke, aged 60, to My. T. B. M'Neil, S.M., to-day in explanation of his theft of two pairs of boots valued at £1 ss, the property of the Wholesale Boot Company. Burke, it was stated by Sub-Inspector Lopdell, had been seen under auspicious circumstances by employees of the company yesterday. He was detained, and when a constable arrived Burke was found to have one pair of boots underneath his coat and he was preparing to take away the other pair. The accused had a record for various offences, including theft. The Magistratei-seateneed liinkc to one /Month's imprisonment.
