MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police and summons cases' were dealt with iv the Magistrate's Court yesterday by Mr. E. Page, S.M. A lirst offender for drunkenness, who did not appear, had her bail of 10s estreated. William John Parker, alias Pv.ieb.ard Palmer, alias Sanderson, aged Hi, pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness and the theft of a lady's _ wristlet watch and camera. "The articles were stolen from I a bedroom, in the Foresters' Arms Hotel," said Detective-Sergeant Holmes. "Parker has a long list of convictions, 'and he seems to have been in and out of prison all the , time lately." On the charge of drunkenness Parker was convicted and discharged, and for _the other offence he was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. For casting offensive matter in the street, Edward Francis Smith, a labourer, aged 32, was fined £1, in default seven days' imprisonment. On a charge of drunkenness he was convicted and discharged. Charges of stealing two fishing nets at Eastbourne, of a total value of £5, belonging to William -A- Pirie, were made against William Edward Duncan. The defendant did not appear. On the first charge he was fined £5, and the second charge was withdrawn.
