FEDERAL BUDGET
DEFENDED BY SCULLIN

The Prime Minister, Mr. J. 11. ScuDin, vigorously defended the Budget against critics. He said that apparently some people wished to repudiate the debts and reduce the War and Old Ago pensions. He certainly would not do that. "Wo intend to go along fearlessly, facing the position and balancing the Budget." Mr. Frank Brennan, the AttorneyGeneral, said that he did not expect the Budget would be popular. On the contrary, the Government intended it to be drastic.
