SWIFTS V. BROOKLYN.

Swifts played a surprisingly fine game at Kelburn Park, when they defeated Brooklyn by 4 goals to 0. The teams were:— Swifts: Forbes; Longbottom, Hillock; Smith, Dainty, Bloomfield; K'elly, Adams, O'Shea, Dickson, Bradford. Brooklyn.—Archer; Sutton, Henry; Brown, Hanson, Upchurch; Jones, Hughes, Treadrea, Hughes, Middleton. Swifts kicked off and followed up with a spirited attack. Some good passes were exchanged between the Swifts' forwards, and two attempts at scoring were successfully repulsed by Archer. Finally Kelly gained control of the ball and scored with a magnificent shot. Brooklyn endeavoured to equalise, and sent in some very fair shots to Forbes, who saved well. Swifts, however, controlled the ball for a greater part 6t the game, and gave the Brooklyn backs considerable trouble. Swifts shot, but, successful smothering by Sutton and Henry prevented scoring. A fine combined movement looked dangerous, and Archer came well out of goal to intercept. The slippery field was his undoing, and he came to earth ten yards from the goal. Dickson had any amount of time and planted a careful ball in the net. Swifts 2, Brooklyn 0. Brooklyn's defence became more wary and neither side reached the brink of scoring during the remainder of the first spelLSwifts opened the second half with some bold movements. Pretty passing was seen, but the Brooklyn backs withstood all attacks. In a struggle: before tlie Brooklyn goal Teddy Bloomfield scored Swifts' third goal with a neat header. Swifts were well into their stride, but Brooklyn were playing a sure defensive game, brightened by a few breaks on the part of the forwards. Hillock passed to Bradford on the line, and the latter kicked a goal. Though luck nursed his 6hot it was a flue effort. Swifts were still pressing at the final whistle.
