Tidey, was returning along the west coast beach from Mongonui Bluff when it ran over a ledge of rocks and turned over, with the result that Carson suffered severe injuries to his head and nose, necessitating the insertion of several stitches. The others escaped with minor bruises and cuts. ■ The members of the party walked ten miles along the beach for assistance, and were brought into town at a late hour. Carson's injuries were attended to by a doctor. He had a narrow escape, but is now progressing I satisfactorily. A breakdown car proceeded to the spot this morning to salvago tho car, which, when left, was upright on its wheels. When found it had been turned over by the tide. The car, a valuable one, was used for taxi work. It was towed into town in a badly damaged condition. ,
