WEEK-END WEATHER

FAIRLY FAVOURABLE

Pressure has not altered appreciably since yesterday, and there has been very little movement of barometers. A slight depression remains centred off the West Coast of the South Island, while an equally slight anti-cyclone is located to the east of the South Island. Winds have been variable, light easterlies or northerlies ruling. The weather yesterday was mainly fair, but there was eousiderablo cloud about. During the night light and misty rain fell in many places, but a few districts, chiefly Tauranga, tho Bay of Plenty, and Okuru,

had heavy falls. Last night was very cold, especially in the South Island, and many frosts were registered. At Kelburn the grass minimum temperature was 27.2 degrees, which is the winter's lowest temperature and which equals that recorded on the night of 23rd May. Snow was reported as falling at the Hermitage this morning. Auckland's weather yesterday was unsettled with light rain. In Wellington the weather was fair but dull and there was very little wind. Christchureh had a dull and bleak day, with a light north-westerly wind. In Dunedin the weather was also cold and dull. j

During the week-end freshening north-easterly or northerly winds are likely to be experienced. Unsettled weather with some rain may be expected in western and south em districts of the South Island, but elsewhero the weather should be mainly fair to fine, although isolated showers are not improbable, more especially; in districts wita a, westerly aspect.
