WINTER SHOW
FURNITURE AWARD
The evening sessions, at the Winter Show are the most popular, and so far they have been crowded. Tho third day's attendanco was .3200, slightly below the returns for the corresponding day last year, receipts being £159 4.S 9d as against £163. The large number of children attending the Show makes the Sf; John Ambulance Station useful for the treatment of minor bumps, bruises, and sprains. '
The cup presented by the New Zealand Sawmillers.' Federation has been awarded to Messrs. Seoullars, Ltd., for an exquisitely finished suite of riniu.
One of tho features of tho fine forestry exhibit by the Government is the examples of uses to which tho skins, etc., of forest pests—deer, goats, and pigs—may be put. Fawn skins make a beautiful pliable leather, and the older hides make coarser leather for various uses, while tho cured skins of goats and deer make fine mats. It is hoped by emphasising tho commercial value of these products to stimulate tho extermination of the pests.
To-day, week the dog trials will be held. ' /
This afternoon, the attendance- promised well, and no doubt to-night's will be heavy. .
