OLD GIRLS MEET

CHILTON HOUSE REUNION

Old girls of Chilton House School have met during the last few days for their annual reunion,. for which several functions were arranged by the Old Girls' Association. Last night a dinner, followed by the annual meeting, was held in the Pioneer Club, whore very charming arrangements had been made for those who attended. Mrs. H. D. Vickery presided over the meeting^ and welcomed those present. Apologies and good wishes were received from a large number unable, to be present. Miss Freeman, in a short speech, said she felt that girls of such a school as Chilton House should be a power in New Zealand. The association as a whole did interest itself in social work, but she urged the worth of individual service of this nature, which the girls who had been through the school should be well fitted to perform.

Mrs. Ward*(present principal of Chilton House) asked for the continued loyalty of ex-pupils of the old school to the present establishment, and Miss FitzGerald ■ (principal of Chilton St. James School) spoke of the traditions which Chilton St. James, as a younger sister school to Chilton House, was trying to build up. .

Mrs. Henry Smith told the old girls how pleased she was with the efforts they had made to assist the work of the Free Kindergarten, a movement with which Chilton House had always been associated. She brought very hearty thanks and appreciation from the Kindergarten Council to the association for its help this year. On Mrs. Smith's motion votes of thanks were passed to Mrs. Vickery (president), Edna Danby (secretary), Ena Rennie (treasurer), the committee, and also to Miss Isaacs for the delightful way in which she had prepared for the evening's gathering. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. H.- D. Vickery; vicepresidents, Miss Isaacs, Miss Nettie Hurley, Mrs. Lloya Clay, Mrs. Arthur Luke; committee, Mrs. Murie, Misses 'Mary Wardell, Marjory Myers, Kathleen Wolf, Marguerite Webb, Norah Anderson, Noeline Crammond, Ajlsa Newton, Audrey Bellett, Margaret Grady, Zita Coopei-; secretary, Miss Edna Danby; treasurer, Miss Ena Kennie. As Miss Whitmoro Searle was unable to carry ou as country secretary, Miss Esther Marshall (Marton) was elected in her place. Yesterday morning a visit was paid to Chilton House at Island Bay, and the present girls were entertained at morning tea. On Thursday afternoon old girls were the guests of the president, Mrs. H. D. Vickery, at afternoon tea at Chilton St. James School, Lower Hutt, where a delightful musical progr imme was given by pupils of the school. A picture party, concluding with supper, was held in the evening.
