At the unnunl meeting of the Nelson Rotary Club to-day Mr. C. R. Foil was elected president and Dr. S. A. Gibbs vieo-prcsident. ,

The following members of the N"elson Education Board have been rcelcctcd unopposed: Nelson Urban Area, Mr. F. Knapp; East Ward, Mr. J. G. Wilkens; West Ward, Mr. J. H. Harkness. Mr. C. W. Thorp did not seek re-election. Mr. E. P. J. Trevana replaces him as the North Ward representative. ...... ...

Ncr time was lost after the signing of the contract for the hostels at the Boys' College in making preparation for tiie work of construction. The foundations for No.. 1 hostel, which will be situated in.the northeast corner of the ground (formerly known as Jickell's property) are now well under way. Special precautions are being taken to ■ got solid foundations, and the depths vary until solid clay is reached. The No. 1 hostel will have a frontage to the north-west, giving a splendid view of the city and the bay. The stream running through the property will be diverted through a culvert and the' low-lying_ land filled in from the excavation soil. The hostels will be of steel frame and concrete construction. Their 'size will bo 112 ft by 96ft, double story, with a basement. The second hostel will be situated on the property acquired on the eastern side of Ngatitama street. The site is. a commanding one; the building will face south-west.
