FIRES DURING MAY
A return presented to tho Wellington Fire Board to-day showed that thoro were 30 actual fires during May, of which 14 .nvolved property, 5 chimneys, and ""I gorso, grass, or rubbish. From tho beginning of May to the prosent date thero wero 107 outbreaks, property fires totalling 33,' and gorse, grass or rubbish fires 03. The total for the corresponding period of last year was 69. False alarms given during May numbered 23, of v.-hieh 1C were justifiable and 6 malicious.
