BUT TEMPORARILY WARMER

Saturday's cold and changeable woatliei- gave place to decidedly more pleasant conditions on Sunday, especial-' ly in eastern districts. Since yesterday, however, scattored showers have fallen in northern and western districts, aad pressure over the Dominion is now movs of the westerly type. An. anti-cyclon* covers the northern portion of the Dim minion area, whilst a low pressure war* is advancing on to southern New Ze*land. Saturday's strong : southerly winds, which brought rain in eastertfc districts and in some places elsewhere became light or moderate on Sunday* and since then have veered in most places to westerlies or. northerlies. Temperatures have become milder, but frosts in the South Island were numerous last night. Auckland's weather on Saturday was fair., but showers fell yesterday. A south-westerly wind prevailed. Saturday in "Wellington was cold and unpleasant, but the weather yesterday was a distinct improvement, ther,e being very little wind. Christchurch. had dull weather on Saturday, with, rain in the evening, but yesterday was a perfect day. Dull weather prevailed in Dunedin on Saturday, with showers in the morning. On Sunday bettef weather was experienced, but there was a little rain last night. Moderate to fresh westerly or northwesterly winds are forecasted to change again before long to southerlies, the change affecting the South Island chiefly. Unsettled weather with showers will gradually extend from western districts to other parts. Mild temperatures will bo followed shortly by a cold change in the South Island.
