TEAM TOR AUSTRALIA

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 14th June. The annual inter-island Rugby League match was played at Carlaw Park and ended with considerable excitement with 22 points each. South Island appeared to be hopelessly beaten by! superior backs, but in the last ten minutes the southern forwards outclassed the North, two tries being registered in ten minutes. The visitors' vanguard displayed good form,-espec-ially after losing Townsend, their hooker. The game was fast and interesting, and delighted the crowd, -which was estimated at 14,000. ; The score at half-time was seven all. O'Brien (West Coast) scored and Eckoff kicked two goals for South Island. For North Island Clark scored and Dufty kicked two goals. In the second halt M is.cnzie, Pearce, and Calder scored tries, while Pearce kicked three goals. For North Island, Brisbane (2) and Timms scored, while Dufty kicked three beautiful goals. O'Brien, "Griffiths, and Dobbs played great games, and EckofE did good work round the scrum, but was given plenty or latitude. Peddie was weak behind the scrum. The five-eighths, Dodds and Amos compared very favourably with Wetnenll and Meyer. Amos made a big impression with splendid tackling. Pearce was easily the best three-quarter. Wethenll and Brisbane played splendidly for North Island, whose backs" gave a clever display of clean passing. Dufty's magnificent line kicks repeatedly saved North. A. Clark, S.
