FIVE WICKET WIN

AUSTRALIA AT LORD'S MIDDLESEX FIGHTS HARD HBNDBEN'S CENTUBY United Press Association—By Electric Tele crap!)- Copyright (received 7th June, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Gth June. The weather was hot for tho third day of the match between Australia and Middlesex at Lord's. The wicket, though bare, appeared to be true. Biehardson kept wicket for Walker, who was unable to resume after injuries received at the beginning of the match. Oldfield fielded as substitute. A sixth-wicket partnership of the county bringing 101 by Hendren and Enthoven, forced Australia to _ bat a second time, and five of the visitors' wickets fell for 85. Hendren, passing Duleepsinhji's 92, became the highest scorer against the Australians, and went on to compile his century in 165 minutes, including twelve 4's. Enthoven played very quietly, until Richardson smartly caught him behind tho wicket. Richardson, who was unexpectedly successful as keeper, also dismissed Hendren. The score was then 271 —the highest against .the Tourists to date. The remaining wickets fell quickly. When Australia went in again, Ponsford scored 10 briskly, and then lost his middle stump. ■ Bradman and Jackson moved along nicely until the former jumped out and his wicket was shattered. Jackson was also badly beaten, and three men were out for 59. Kippax, who is suffering from a strained groin, and Fairfax, then gathered the necessary runs for victory. Australia won by five wickets.
