SIR JOSEPH WARD
ME. FORBES CALLED ON
TO FORM MINISTRY
• The resignation of the Right Hon. 'Sir Joseph Ward as Prime Minister, together with the resignations of his colleagues in the Ministry, were forwarded to the Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) yesterday, and it was announced this morning that the resignations had been received by His Excellency. The Governor-General lias sent a communication to the Hon. G. \\ ■ Forbes, the newly-elected leader of the United Party, requesting him to proceed to Auckland, and Mr. Forbes accordingly will leave by train this evening, accompanied by the Permanent Head of the Prime Minister's Department (Mr. F. D. Thomson), and his private secretary (Mr. A. W. Mulligan). It is anticipated that on being charged by His Excellency with , tho formation of a Ministry, Mr. Forbes will agree to do so and ask to bo allowed a da> or two in which to arrange his Cabinet. The announcement of tho new Ministry: should bo made early next week, and tho Ministers will be sworn in forthwith. SIR JOSEPH'S TREATMENT. A Press Association message received to-day'from Eotorua states that Sir Joseph Ward will continue under treatment at Eotoruav for some time, and that no course as to his future movements has been decided. ,
