REVENUE DECLINES

INCREASE IN SAVINGS WITHDRAWALS
The revenue earned by the Post and Telegraph Department during the financial year ended 31st March last shows a decline of £10,000 as^ compared with the earnings for tho previous financial year. Tho postal revenuo fell from £1,633,167 to £1,498,683, and there was an increase from £2,018,607 to £2,14.2,935 in tho telegraph revenue, producing a total result of £3,641,618 for 1929-30, as compared with £3,651,----774 for 1928-29.
The savings bank transactions reveal an increase in the excess of withdrawals over deposits. For the. year just closed deposits amounted to £28,561,----852, and withdrawals £29,575,091, an excess of £1,014,139 on the withdrawals side. In the previous financial year deposits totalled £27,252,379 and withdrawals £28,111,939, withdrawals exceeding deposits by £859,560. The excess of withdrawals over deposits has thus increased by £154,579.
Tho value of money orders paid increased during the year just closed from £4,675,727 to .£4,814,225, and there was an increase of about 25,000 in the number of orders paid.
