LONDON, 21st May. Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith states that the Southern Cross resembles a new pin. The overhaul by Fokkers has added seven miles an hour to her speed. She will be ready for the Atlantic flight in three weeks. The second pilot will.be Van Dyk, a Dutchman, and the wireless operator John Stavage, who accompanied the aeroplane Canberra when she found the Southern Cross lost in the Kimberley Ranges on the occasion when the crew were nearly starving.
