LODGE MEETINGS
'At-a meeting of Loyal Britannia Lodge, M.U., held recently, and presided over by Bro. J. M'Duff, two friends were initiated and one proposed for membership. Twentythree brothers were reported to be receiving sick benefits. Nominations of officers were received. Lodge honours were accorded visitors, including P.G.M. Bro. John M'Leod, P.G.M. Bro. Aitken, and Bros. F. Hard, Seddon, W. Dean, and S. i-F. Pendet (from Auckland). Bro. M'Leod, who was the first Grand , Master of the ~New Zealand branch of the Manchester Unity, gave a most interesting account of his recent visit to England, where he attended the Oddfellows' Conference. The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Newtown Lodge, M.U., was held recently, Bro. J. Mears, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. One new member was admitted, and nominations for officers for the ensuing, term were opened. At the conclusiou of business a card tournament was held with the Loyal Britannia Lodge for the 500 shield, the visitors proving the better team by 15 games to 11. The fortniglitly meeting of Loyal Kilbirnie Lodge, M.U., was held last week. There was a large attendance. Among those present was Bro. Edwards, a P.D.G.M., of Auckland, who addressed the meeting. The district secretary-director, Bro. Guise, was congratulated by the N.G., Bro. Russell, for his success at the conference held recently, at Palmerston North. Cards and dancing brought the visit to an enjoyable ending. The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Rose of the Valley Lodge was held recently, N.G. Bro. Hardy presiding over a. large attendance. Nominations of officers were received. Sick visitors' reports were received stating that' four members were still on the funds of the- lodge. The officers initiated two candidates. The judges for the Ritual Shield competition were accorded lodge honours. : There was a good attendance at the meeting of Loyal Mangatainoka Lodge, M.U;, which took place recently. Bro. .F. J. Martin presided. Accounts were passed for payment. Copies of the reports on the annual district conference and 1025 ruination were distributed. P.G. Bro. L. W. Kitchen, who was one of the judges, submitted a report oil the recent ritual competitions with Loyal Ekotahuna Lodge, which resulted in Loyal Mangatainoka Lodge retaining the Farrow Shield by a narrow margin. Bro. A. E. South reported on a-visit to Palmerston North on the occasion of the installation of the New Zealand officers. L.M. Bro. L. W. Kitchen delivered the blue degree to one brother, and several brothers took the scarlet degree. Nominations were received for officers for the ensuing year.' ,
