IN APPRECIATION

BADGE FOR AFRICAN OFFICIAL

While on a visit to New Zealand early this year, Mr. A. M. Williams, o£ the editorial staff of the "Band Daily Mail," was given a New Zealand Rugby Union badge by Mr, W. P. Hornig (manager of the 1928 All Blacks) to present to Mr. Eeg. Smith, secretary of the Transvaal Rugby Football Union. The badge, which was presented to Mr. Smith in the offices of the "Kand Daily Mail," is of bronze, and is in the form of a Rugby ball with a silver fern leaf and the letters "N.Z." enamelled over it. Mr. Hornig sent the badge to Mr. Smith as a memento of the All Blacks' tour of South Africa,, and as a token, of appreciation of the many kindnesses experienced at, his hands in Johannesburg.
