Arising from a shooting affair which oceun-ed eight miles from Pio Pio on 27th January last, when a young Native, Kone Pairama, better known as Krugcr Pairama, allegedly mado an attempt, on , . the- -life of a half-caste youth known as Jimmy Davidson by shooting at him with.a rifle,-Pairama appeared'before Justices of tho Peace yesterday charged with attempted murder. .

After tho shooting, which followed a quarrel between the parties, who are respectively uncle and nephew, the accused came,to Te Kuiti,,where he was taken into custody by the local police. As there was a possibility that Davidson's injury might have proved mortal (having received', the bullet in the groin)., a Court was held at the Te Kuiti Hospital on the evening of the shooting, when Davidson's depositions were taken at his.bedsi.de.

After lengthy evidence had been given by,, fourteen , witnesses, the accused pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was refused.
