STILL FINE

OUTLOOK PROMISING

Although tho anti-cyclone , still covers the Tasman Sea, and the New Zealand area, it has contracted somewhat over.the Dominion. A slight low pressyre wave, crossed in the South last., night, and the presence of a cyclone to the north-east of East Cape has made itself felt. The latter has been the cause of as much as 123 points of rain atEast Cape, and 116 at Gisborne. The greater part of the Dominion, however, has continued to enjoy pleasant conditions, and temperatures have become warmer. Moderate to fresh south-easterly winds have prevailed north of Kawhia and Napier; elsewhere variable winds, with light northerlies ruling this morning, have been experienced.

Of the1 four centres Wellington easily had the best weather yesterday, conditions being ideal. In Auckland the weather was inclined to. be cloudy1) and light rain fell last night, accompanied by thunder. . Christchurch had fair to cloudy weather, with a fresh north-easterly wind. It was a dull day in Duncdin, although warm and otherwise pleasant.

To-day's forecast indicates a continuance of tho present pleasant conditions for the major part of tho Dominion: Pine and warm days with cool nights are likely to be the general rule, but north of Kawhia and Napier scattered rain is possible, and falls [may be heavier in the Gisborne and East Cape districts. Moderate to strong south-easterly winds will prevail north of Kawhia and Napier. Elsewhere variable winds, with westerlies predominating, may be-expected.
