FATAL COLLISION
COMMENTS BY- CORONER

DUNEDIN, 28th February.
. The inquest into the deaths of David Vcrnon Wilkins and David Edwards, killed in a motor collision on the Portobello road on New Year's morning concluded to-day, when the Coroner (Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M.) returned an open verdict. The Coroner remarked that a noteworthy and pleasing feature of the proceedings was that there was no evidence to show any of the parties concerned was under the influence of liquor. He also stated that there was no clear-cut evidence to indicate criminal negligence on the part of either driver.
Wilkins was the driver.of a vau, and Edwards a passenger in a motor-car.
