SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.

An anti-cyclone is still situated over the Tasman Sea and the New Zealand area, but It has contracted somewhat over the Dominion owing to the presence of a cyclone nortli-east of East Cape and the passage of a slight lowpressure wave in the far South. The, former has' been responsible for further scattered rain in the eastern districts from Poverty Bay northwards, but elsewhere the weather has remained fine and generally temperatures have become warmer. North of Kawhla and Napier moderate to fresh south-easterlies have prevailed, while thence southwards winds have/ ;been light and variable with a tendency for northerlles since last night.
