Although tho Gold Cup trotting looting was held only three weeks ago on the Hutt Park course, the Wellington Trotting Club's February meeting, which is being held to-day, has attracted another good attendance. The weather is dull, but mainly fine, and the track is in oxeollent order. Results ..lip to the time of going to press were 'as follow:— •": Rain set in after luncheon. Glenrossio went away best and led Driftwavo and Matenga, the trio having a big break on the rest of the field. Somerby and Direct Red failed to go away right, and Brent Zolock, who was favourite, was very slow to move. With a round to go, Driftwave took charge, but in the back stretch Glenrossie went to the front and went on to win very easily by eight lengths from Bessie Huon. Tho favourite was third, two lengths further back. It was a very poor contest. Times, 3min 43 2-ssec, 3min 46 3-fssec, 3min 43 2-ssec. (Winner trained by driver, Lower Hutt.) There were only five starters in the Nai Nai Handicap, and all wcro well backed, .Tock Bingen being made a little- better favourite than Boneta. Tamahino went, away fast, and was followed .by Bonota, thp pair opening up a big gap. Jock Bingen was in third place and Lady Pan next, Dolores having made a very bad" beginning. The order was not changed going along fhe back, but with a round to go Boneta took charge and Tamahine, in endeavouring to keep her place, broke up, Jock Bingen going into second posi- . tion. There was a fine race for the February Handicap, in which Great Logan was favourite. - Sonoma went away smartly, but after a furldng Arikitoa took charge, and at the end of four furlongs was followed by Sonoma, AVrackeen, and Jolly Pet. Just after a round had been covered, Sonoma broke, and Real Light went into second place. With a round to go, Arikitoa still had charge, with Real Light second and Great Logan third. Racing along the back. Arikitoa and Great Logan clrew away, and came into the. straight almost in line. There was a fine finish, Arikitoa winning by about half a length from Real Light, who was a head in front of Great Logan. Wrackeen was fourth a.head away. The second, third, and fourth horses finished almost in line. Time, 4min 34 l-ssec, 4min 31see, 4min 34 2-ssec, (Winner trained by driver,™Christ^" church.) RAILWAY HANDICAP (in harness), of 200 soys; one mile and five furlongs. Mrs. L. K. Page's b g Native Hero, , aged, by Native-King—Limit, 24 yds behind 1 Mr. O. E. Times, 3min 44sec, 3min 44 2-ssec, 3min 48sec. Native Hero, who was one of the outsiders, won the Railway Handicap by a narrow margin. Glenlake ""went away first, but before a quarter of a mile had been covered Halmore had gone to the front with Salient following. Native Hero took charge at the ■top turn and, pacing freely, led Nelsonian, Salient, and Mac Locanda. They raced in that order starting the last lap and there was no change along the back.- Native Hero came into the straight with a good lead. Nelsonian was next, and Sandy Pointer had improved . his position. In a great race to. the post Sandy Pointer came fast but failed by half a length to reach Native Hero. Baron Bingon was third, just ahead of Nelsonian and Pleasant .Wave.
