STATE OF INDUSTRY
PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY

AUCKLAND, J4th February.
The Parliamentary Committee which was set np to investigate the secondary industries of thai Dominion will' start its operations in about six weeks' time. The first Bitting will be held at Dunedin, after wliich the Committee will work north ward,' ending at Auckland.
The Committee will consist of: Mr. A. Harris, M.P., W6\ H. E. Jenkins, M.P., Mr. D. G. SuiUivan, M.P., and the Minister of the Department (the Hon. J. B. Donald).
Evidence will be I taken at the four principal centres od' New Zealand— Dunedin, Cbristchurich, Wellington, and Auckland —but if ' ■anyono from any other part desires to give evidence he may do so by travelling to wherever the Committee) is sitting. Representative factories of all the secondary industries in New Zealand will be visited by the Committee, but evidence in all four centres; for all kinds of industries will not ;bo taken. Tor instance, evidence concerning the motor industry will probably be taken only in Wellington, ao.d for the rope and twine industry only in Dunedin. This will prevent any: unnecessary overlapping and waste of time. It is expected that a hug.o amount of evidence will be recorded during the sittings of the Committee. : This will later be amalgamated in a report and presented to the Houge of Representatives, probably during; next session of Parliament. :
