FUND OF INFORMATION

LONDON, 23rd December.

Within the small compass of 48 pages, measuring 3iu x Din, the Travel Association of Great Britain and Ireland has compressed a groat deal of information which will be invaluable to visitors. This,pocket calendar contains a day-to-day diary of 500 leading events of 1930 throughout the Brisk Isles; lists of shows, exhibitions, festivals, celebrations, and old world customs; information upon a'score of different subjects, including Customs, passports, taxes, means of transport, motoring, hotels, postal arrangements; and notes on some special features of life in this country, which are particularly attractive to visitors from abroad, and in whick. the position of this country is uuique, such as the high standard of /cneral health, its notable spas and resorts, the facilities for sport, the love ■A pageantry, and the attractions of our flower gardens. Mention is also made of the classes of goods in the manufacture of which Britain leads the world, and there are some interesting figures regarding the weather, which should serve to dispel some erroneous ideas. The whole represents in small compass a wonderful picture of lifo in the British Isles.

Printed in clear, open-faced red and black type, with. a foreword by the Prime Minister, tho calendar is designed to arouso tho interest of tho foreign tourist and overseas businoss man by showing what a wide variety of interesting and important events auo held in tho British Isles during the year, and will cnablo visitors to time their stay to, coincide with events in which they arc interested.

The calendar is intended for circulation abroad, and will be issued in four editions. Tho English edition of half a million copies is now out, and is being dispatched abroad. This edition will be followed by 300,000 copies in French, Spanish, and German.

Tho Prime Minister, tho Eight Hon. J. Eamsay MaeDonald, in a foreword, reminds the traveller that "enmities are born of ignorance and prejudice, friendships of personal contacts and understandings.''

The association, which was incorporated last April, has alresidy made great progress. In addition to this calendar, the issue of other literature is under consideration. Tho association is organising, in the more invportant centres abroad, committees of British interests to assist in furthering its aims.
