Two Nishts In Wreck

Pola Attard, aged 27, a Maltese fireman in the British ship Molesey which was wrecked on the Pembrokeshire coast in November/ was subsequently found alive and well on a small island near tho scene of the -wreck. Heehad been counted among the lost.

There were reports that flares had been seen oa the wreck, but a search party which went out from the village of Marloes found nothing.

Attard, who was taken to the Sailors' Rest at Milford Haven, said: "When the vessel struck tha rocka I went into a cabin for a drink. Tho crew had tried to land the ship's boat, but I could not get in. I saw Mattson, the carpenter, jump overboard. Others did the same.

"I stayed in the cabin for twentyfour hours. I did not know that some of the crew had been rescued by. a lifeboat. The distance from the ship to the island was not great, and when tho storm abated I came out and swam twice to the island. But I could see nothing. ■ ■ . . .-■ •

"I swam over again at 6 o'clock this morning and saw tho lights of a boat. This ,took me ashore. I was given food and fresh clothes, and then brought here." ( •■. • ■ '. ■

Attard chatted gaily about his experiences. Ho said he found a box of chocolates in the cabin, and this was all he had had to eat. • ■ ■
