BROCADED WALLS
In these days, when, so many people have, their rooms tinted with a colour wash, it must be pleasant relief to go into one that has silk brocade to decorate the walls, for, apart from being a feature of the wonderful olden times, there is something very dignified arid restful about it.: Stonleigh Abbey, Lord Leigh's home, near Kenilworth,; and Knole, the famous mansion that belongs to the Sackvilles at Sevenoaks, both have lovely rooms with brocaded walls. The former posesses a bedroom with the walls" and the bedhangings in a handsome olive green brocade, and this is the room.that Lady Leigh chose for her room. Thero is a fine view from the windows, ami Queen Victoria occupied this room on tlie occasions when she visited Stonleigh Abbey>
