WEDDINGS

A wedding -which interested many friends" was that of Alison, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Johnston, of Wellingtou (formerly of Timaru), and John, elder son of tho late Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Mullinsj of Chepstow, England. Tho. ceremony took place at St. Mary's Church, Timaru, which was ar-: tistically .decorated with masses of delicately coloured hydrangeas and vivid tiger-lilies and marigolds. The Rev. W. Orbell, Christchurch, officiated, and Mr. A, Vine played the wedding music. The bride w ■ escortol by her brother, Mr. Denis Johnston, her wedding gown being of deep cream chiffon velvet made with long sleeves, and a long trained skirt. The long train of cream ring velvet was lined with shell pink chiffon, and embossed at the end with silver thread roses. Parchment tinted Honiton lace formed a dainty cap effect with tulle to tone and orange blossoma. L sheaf of Harrisii lilies completed the toilette. Misses L. Cartwright and J. Orbell were bridesmaids, their effective frocks beingi of lettuce green chiffon. The 'frilly skirts were worn with tailored bolts and'coats, and wide green straw hats were worn pleated at the side and trimmed with twoton' ribbon. ■ Their amber earrings were the gift of the bridegroom, and they carried bouquets of flame-coloured gladioli. The little train-bearers, Paule.tto and Caruo Woodhouse, were in frocks to match those of the' older girls, the smocked bodices having short sleeves, and narrow frilled skirts. Small flat velvet flowers of gold- and flame formed the head dresses, and ■ their posies were of tho same shades. They wore amber necklaces, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. P. Gresson was. best man, and Mr. N. Alexander groomsman. The reception was held at "Came," the residenco of Mrs. B.- H. Ehodes, where Mrs. Johnston and Mrs. Ehodes received the guests in the hall, which was beautifully decorated with tiger lilies, blue agapanthus, and, marigolds. Mrs. Johnston was in a graceful gown of black lace, and a smart black hat with erinino tips; she wore also an ermine necklet, and carried a bouquet of deep red roses. Mrs. Rhodes was in black crepe de chine trimmed with purple, and a hat to tone... The bride's travelling costume was an attractive three-piece frock of pale jade green suede crepe do chine. The jumper was of beach.coloured crepe do chine, and sho wore a hat made of ribbon of the same shades. Mr. 'and Mrs. Mullins are leaving at the end of the month for a visit to England. i

An evening wedding took place recently at St. Mark's Church, Wellington, the Kov. H. E. K. Fry being the officiating minister, when Edna, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G..A. Howe, Wellington, was married to Godfrey Graham, only son of Mrs. and tho late Mr. Graham ,Jackson, of Palmerston North. Tho bride, who entered the church with her'father, wore a dainty frock of ivory mariette and lace, and: carried a bouquet of cream roses and gladioli. Her beautifully embroidered veil (whish was the gift of her aunt) was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom, and formed a train, which was carried by her litlte cousin, Kenneth Trevor, who was dressed in an apricot satin buH with-, cape lined with powder blue. The bridesmaids were Misses Nita Howe (chief) and Agnes Jackson.. They were frocked alike in apricot crepe satin and mariette, their dainty caps being of frillofl apricot tullo and diamante. They carried bouquets of apricot roses and gladioli, with streamers ■ of , powder bluo tulle. The bouquets were mado by Mrs. Meade, a friend of the bride. Mr. W. W. Styles, of Wellington, was best man, and Mr. I. Jensen, of 'Palmerstoii North, groomsman.. At th church door the bride- was presented with a silver horseshoe by her cousin, Jack Gilchrist. Following the ceremony a. reception was held at the M'okoia Hal, where the quests were received by Mrs. Howe (mother of the bride), who wore a frock of beige mariette ana lace, with hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of pink roses and sweet peas. She was assisted by Mrs. Jackson (mother of the bridegroom), who wore a pretty frock of floral .'satin, with a satin coat and hat to,.match. Her bouquet was'of • mauve sweet peas. Later the bride and bridegroom left for Auckland and' Rotorua, the. bride wearing a beaded frock of rose celanese and marietw, with coat and smart felt hat to tone. . Their future home will be in Blenheim.
