The Minister of , Lands and Agriculture (the Hon. G% W, Forbes) returned from the Waikato yesterday and left for the South last evening.
The Minister of Education (the Hon. H. Atmore) left to-day for Hawkea Bay, Gisborne, and the Bay of Plenty, He will return to Wellington on Friday next. f
The death is announced of Ladyj Burgoyue, widow of Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Alan Burgoyne, who, at the time of his death in 1928' was Unionist M.P^ for Aylesbury in the House of Commons, states a wireless message froiu Eugby. Lady Burgoyne 'before her, marriage was Miss Irene Mac Donald, daughter of a Sydney banker. They; were married in 1906.
Mr. T. A. Wells, president of the) Wellington Master Painters* Assoeia-i tion, who is about to leave on a world tour, was farewelled by themembers «£ the association at a smoke social afc Gamble and Creed's rooms last even-i ing. Warm tribute was paid to Mr. Wells's assiduous work in the interests of the association and the trade during many years, and on behalf of the members. a presentation was made by'Mr, Briton Smith, who presided, of a~ travelling rug each for Mr. and Mrs. Wells. A pleasant evening was spent, speeches being interspersed with musical items.
