Professor THEaserfield, of the Cawthron Institute, pieIn his address, Professor Easterfiehl dealt with the need of closer co-opera-tion between the manufacturer, tne agriculturist, and the chemist. "If the secondary industries aro to bo developed," he said, "we must have a wider view and see things, not only from a chemical standpoint, but from that of finance and get the socalled business man of Now Zealand to understand that, if he neglects chemical prin ■iplea, he is going to lose thousands of pounds, annually. I have found :i surprising ignorance uf scientific facts among Lu.-iines's men."
